UNSA Privacy Disclaimer and GDPR

GDPR is the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) is a regulation in EU law on data protection and privacy in the European Union and the European Economic Area.

Who Are We?

UNSA is the data processing controller (as defined under Art.4 GDPR), established in Tongersestraat 43, Room 2.011, 6211 LM Maastricht;

What Data Do We Collect From You?

We collect the following personal data from you: your name, email address, faculty and studies information, whether you are an exchange student and your nationality.

We collect no sensitive data from you in the understanding of Art.9 GDPR.

Why Are We Collecting Your Data?

We process your data on the basis of your consent given in the membership form and for the purposes of keeping track of UNSA members for a given year, for being able to offer you benefits specifically associated with being a UNSA member and for monitoring the university related (inter-faculty) and international-related information of our group.

How Do We Process Your Data?

Your personal data will be retained for a period of an academic year, so until July 2021. Your data is not subject to automatic decision procedures.

UNSA follows security procedures to ensure that your personal information is not damaged, destroyed, or disclosed to a third party without your permission and to prevent unauthorized access. We either anonymize the data from previous years, for the purpose of keeping statistical data, or we destroy it. We use a G-Suite option protected by the 128-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) and the TLS protocol to process the non-sensitive data you provide us with.

Consequences Of Not Providing Us With Your Personal Information

Giving your personal data is a precondition to becoming a UNSA member, as we use it to provide you with benefits unique for our members (as explained above). Therefore, not providing us with your data will result in you not being able to join the Association.

What Are Your Rights?

You have the right to access your data, to obtain a copy of your data and to request your data’s erasure or rectification.

You may contact us at secretary@myunsa.org with your request. We shall be obliged to address your request within a month, however, in case the request is too complex UNSA reserves a right to extend that period by further 2 months (after notification).

Your Personal Data

You have the right to access your data, to be provided, on request, with a copy of the data we hold of you and with knowledge of the reasoning underlying data processing, to request its erasure or rectification and the right not to be subject to a purely automated decision. You may contact us at secretary@myunsa.org with your request. You also have the right to withdraw your consent at any point and a right to lodge a complaint with the national supervisory authority should you consider that this data processing is in violation of the law.
